Xiangtan Normal University, Hunan Province
Normal University means a teacher-training University.
Xiangtan (pronounced 'Shantang') is a medium sized Chinese city which is developing fast.
It is situated in Hunan province, South Central China, About 1 hour from the capital of
the Province, Changsha. The city is located on the Xiang River, it is a nice mix of
traditional and modern China, although it still has some way to go.
Xiangtan is an important railway junction city where three major railways of South China cross, most noticeably the Shanghai-Kunming Rail Line. Xiangtan is known around the world as the hometown of Chairman Mao. The weather is very hot in the summer, winter isn't too cold as the south of China doesn't get bad winters.
The city has an excellent bus service running to the province capital and other locations around Hunan. There are many students in Xiangtan, with 4 very large universities closely situated around the city. Like most universities, you are made to feel welcome and an excellent working relationship/friendship soon develops with students.
